Scam Alert!

Important Notice about Fraud!

Note that some days after you or your company has filed the application of a trademark, patent, or design with the Important Notice about Misleading LettersSpanish Patent and Trade Mark Office (OEPM), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) or the European Patent Office (EPO), you might receive one or more MISLEADING INVOICES and SCAM LETTERS from unlawful companies requesting payment of fees for different IP matters, such as registration, renewal, having your right included in an ‘info-register,’ advertising your IP right or business name, etc. These letters appear official, imitating office emblems, flags, or logos to trick and confuse the applicant-owner. However, they have no connection with the actual office and are scams, preying on unsuspecting applicants, who may fall into the trap of paying the requested sum for nothing in return.

All details regarding the applicant and the rights in question are obtained online by scammers after publication by each registry and made available to the public through the respective official IP bulletin or gazette.

There are also internet scammers, often based in Asia, who may email you claiming they have received a request from another entity to register a domain name under an Asian top-level domain extension containing your brand or business name. They will ask you to pay a high fee to register the domain name on your behalf, rather than for the actual requesting party.

Warning! If you receive any invoice or letter asking you for money related to your IP rights (trademark, patent, design, or domain name), please contact us immediately and we will let you know whether it is genuine or fraudulent.
